Gotta love the food and exercise diary

Another good day today. Was busy out walking around at uni with my son so did some non incidental exercise, still with the way I feel at the moment I figure any exercise is good exercise. Can’t wait to start athletics and get stuck into the gym!

So today I had some yoghurt and raisin toast for breakfast and a cup of coffee and 2 glasses water.

A chocolate Friand and a skinny latte for morning tea

A coffee and a ham and salad sandwich for lunch

750mls water

Handful nuts and seeds

2 glasses water

Dinner was Thai Chicken Curry with brown rice and an apple and 1 glass water

Didn’t have time to weigh and measure today so will do that tomorrow although I expect no change because I’ve not been running as much as I want to =[

Fuel

Today was a good day. I ate 1cup cereal with skim milk, the last muesli bar, 2 cups coffee a green salad for lunch and went all you can eat for dinner and had a couple of small plates of food, and some choc mousse and pandan cake for dessert and some fruit

Had 8 glasses of water today and ran around a bit with Bailey, did the grocery shopping and ran in the park. Really can’t wait to get rid of this cold that’s making my lungs feel like thy are going to explode. Weight and measurements to come tomorrow.

Had 8 glasses water today and went for a run! Can’t wait for summer and salads and watermelon, and bananas to be cheap again!!!!!!!!

That daily thing about food

Here I am quickly stopping in to update you all on my daily food intake. Still getting over the weekend.

So today’s food diary is:

Breakfast One weetbix 1/2 cup all bran with 2 tablespoons Sultanas and 1/2 cup milk.

2 glasses water and a cup of coffee

1 Skinny Latte 1 slice cherry slice

6 inch sweet onion chicken teryaki with salad and 750 mls water

1 cup coffee

2 small packets (from variety pack) salt and vinegar chips

1 mars bar

Yeah so as you can see it’s been a real healthy recovery from the weekend. I’m craving sugar because I’m tired. And all I’ve done today exercise wise is walk to and from and around uni. It’s movement I suppose, but need running to really feel it.

Signed up for athletics today so motivation to get out there move it is stronger! Plus now I’m helping my friend I need to have enough motivation for the both of us!

That thing I said I’d do

It’s been one hell of a weekend I can tell you that. I am exhausted and my healthy eating went out the window in a matter of hours. Why does alcohol make you want to eat fatty foods?

Anyway here’s Friday, Saturday and today all in one hit.

Friday:

Breakfast 3/4 cup Special K. 1 cup coffee 1 apple. 3 glasses water

Lunch Left over Chilli Con Carne with corn chips and avocado (I ate all the corn chips in the packet because I was so hungry)

3 glasses water 1 cup tea

Dinner Pad Thai made at home with chicken. 1 glass water

Lost count of the amount of alcohol I consumed on Friday night but let’s just say it was alot and I had alot of fun doing it! Danced all night so that was my cardio =P

Saturday:

1 cup coffee 2 glasses water

Breakfast (if you want to call it that) McFeast (no tomato and cheese) and large Shaker Fries from maccas and a large coke

Lunch left over pad thai at 4pm and a glass of water

Dinner Chicken Schnitzel with chips, gravy and salad (yeah healthy weekend Amy)

I think about 6 beers and 1 jager and red bull

2 glasses water

Danced all night again (gotta use up all that energy somehow)

Sunday

Breakfast Bacon, Eggs and Mushroom toastie. 1 cup tea 2 glasses water

Lunch Plain Hamburger and small handful of chips

1 glass water 1 cup coffee 1 muesli bar

Dinner (probably just eat left over casserole because I’m now far too exhausted to cook)

Like I said real healthy weekend that was! This is my last full on weekend of going out and eating unhealthy for the rest of the weekend. I need to get my diet in check again to ensure maximum performance for the forthcoming athletics season.

Now I’m going to collapse in a heap and watch a movie.

Hope you all had a great weekend =]

What I ate today

As promised I need to hold myself accountable for everything I eat each day. It’s a food diary and I need to keep it every day. So here we go

Day 2

Breakfast: Low fat yoghurt and 2 slices raisin toast with small amount of low fat, low salt margarine. 1 cup of coffee. 2 glasses water.

Snack on way home from uni: Packet S&V chips

Had a bit of a carb craving today but I figure that’s cause I’ve been moving alot!

Until tomorrow (I’m heading out tomorrow night with my friends)

Want to upgrade from old Tarago to Ferrari?

I’ve been thinking about the analogy I used yesterday about your body being a machine and the fuel you put in it, etc. Well I thought about it some more and I’ve decided I’m going to start using this one:

Your body is a car. If you put diesel into a tank that is made for unleaded petrol you’ll mess up the whole internal workings of the car and it won’t go, and need to be repaired which is a pricey exercise right? Also if you put fuel in the car and then it sits in the shed the fuel sits in the tank and doesn’t get used. Eventually it does more harm than good.

I can hear you saying yeah okay I get it, but how is that supposed to help me? Well I want you to start looking at your body like a car, except it’s worth much more than any car in the whole wide world because it is unique and it is you! It is also irreplaceable and often permanent damage can not be fixed.

Alright so look at it this way. Diesel in an unleaded car is a disaster right? It’s the same with unhealthy foods. Years of over indulgence and unhealthy food choices causes so much damage to your body that often the parts just cannot cope anymore and they stop working. Most of the parts that stop working cannot be replaced. I’m not talking about organs (heart, liver, kidneys, etc) I’m talking about on a smaller level, the cellular level. The good news is that you can change that by stopping the unhealthy eating habits and start fueling your body with the “petrol” it needs. It’s simply a decision you make, and a promise to yourself to change. Is it hard? HELL YES!!!!!! Are you scared out of your mind? HELL YES!!!!!! Do you think you will never be able to resist temptation? OF COURSE!!!!!!! But there’s one little thing we all have inside of us, deep down, hidden underneath the layers of self doubt, self loathing, excuses, and negative people and thoughts. It’s something I like to call WILLPOWER!!!!!!!

YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU SET YOUR MIND TO DO

Willpower is often the thing that stops you from destroying your car. Willpower gives you the strength of mind to continue on even though the odds are against you (and here I am not talking about just the weightloss/exercise world). So where is it you ask? It’s in there, telling you to not give up, to keep on going, to push through the pain, to never give up, to not let this thing beat you). I believe people choose to ignore it and listen to the negatives instead. Negatives to me are just excuses. Things you’ve told yourself, things you’ve heard from others around you all your life. STOP LISTENING TO THOSE THINGS AND START LISTENING TO YOU!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT! YOU ARE STRONGER THAN YOU THINK, MORE DETERMINED THAN YOU THINK AND SMARTER THAN YOU THINK!!!!!!

So back to our car. You might feel like an old tarago, carting the family around here, there and everywhere. The “family” is the fat stores you have in your body. Eventually after playing taxi your tarago has had enough and dies. You need to upgrade and you’ve always wanted a ferrari, but you know you have to work for that ferrari. So you start looking after the tarago a little better so you can “get a better trade it”, eventually the tarago starts to look like it could be worth something and you start to feel a whole lot better, the ferrari is getting closer and closer. The more you work at it the quicker it will lead you to that dream car. But you just have to keep at it.

Change your fuel to change your car. Change your lifestyle to change your car. You can’t eat healthy food without needing to burn the energy the fuel produces. My advice is, after reading this go do some research about just how much fuel is needed for you personally! Taking stock of your kilojoule (or calorie) intake first, knowing what you need to know to survive at a basic keep the heart ticking and the basic functions going, knowing how much extra you need to give you the fuel to exercise, educating yourself about the food you put into your mouth, thinking about how it affects your body is something you should try and do while you work on upgrading that car.

Once you change the fuel, and USE IT, that ferrari you’ve always dreamed of will start to take shape more permanently in your mind.

So set your goals, make them achievable and instead of excuses to not get out there and do it, make excuses about why you are going to get out there and do it!

BURN THE FUEL, UPGRADE THE CAR, LIVE!!!!!! You’re whole body, your whole life will change for the better.

So what are you waiting for? Let’s get that tarago out, brush it off and turn it into that hot ferrari you’ve always dreamed of!

If you want to get into running, then this is the place to start. Really excellent program that works on building strength and working up to running five kms!

Gotta love the food and exercise diary

Being the person that I am I promised I’d blog about what I’ve eaten every day. This is my food diary and I need to hold myself accountable for everything that passes my lips. So here ya go.

Breakfast: 3/4 cup fibre plus cereal with one banana and 1/2 cup milk

3 glasses of water

1 Cup coffee (sweetened with artificial sweetener)

Lunch: Toasted ham and dijon mustard sandwich. 1 bowl salad with oil free dressing.

2 cups of coffee with 40 grams of dark chocolate and one muesli bar (homemade ones. They taste amazing. See earlier blog post for recipe)

5 glasses of water

Dinner: One pork chop with vegetables.

Three strawberries with two scoops of low fat ice cream

1 glass of water

Today I ran my full 5 kms and then did some dumbbell lifts (20 of each), 20 push ups (with a cushion under my knees), 25 sit ups and a 30 second plank.

Looking forward to updating tomorrow

Until then here’s something to keep you going

Sometimes you just have to push all excuses aside, put your head down and JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!

Have a great night everyone. See you all tomorrow =]
